Chews are the better option if your dog will take them. There is a physical element to eating a chew that water cannot replicate, and the daily moment of giving one is worth something in itself.
Water is the better option if your dog refuses chews, is on a weight-management plan, or if you are honest with yourself and know a daily chew will not survive your schedule. A routine you actually keep beats a better routine you abandon in a fortnight.
Both is what a lot of our customers settle on, and there is no reason not to. The chew goes in after dinner and the water is just there in the background. If you are running both, you do not need to change either amount.
What none of them replace is your vet. If there is visible tartar, red gums, or your dog is pawing at their mouth or eating oddly, that is a check-up rather than a shopping decision.
Questions owners ask
How much do I add?
Follow the dosing on the bottle — it is measured by bowl size. More is not better, and a heavily over-dosed bowl is the main reason a dog goes off their water.
Will my dog notice the taste?
Most do not. A few sniff at the bowl for a day or two. If yours is hesitant, start with a smaller amount and build up over a week.
Do I change the water every day?
Yes — fresh water and a fresh dose daily. Standing water goes stale with or without anything added to it.
We have more than one dog. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Dose by the bowl rather than by the dog, and let them share as normal.
Can the cat drink it?
This is formulated for dogs, so please give cats their own bowl of plain water rather than sharing.
